Last week, Dell Technologies unveiled an impressive array of new Dell APEX offerings across cloud platforms, public cloud storage software, client devices and compute. These additions to the industry’s most comprehensive as-a-Service and multicloud portfolio that spans the data center to the public cloud to client devices 1 will help customer enterprises operate and innovate faster by virtue of improved management and mobility of their applications and data wherever they reside.

The Dell APEX Portfolio expansion from client devices to public cloud is critically important for Dell partners. This is true primarily because it represents more opportunities for partners to continue to meet their customers where they are and provide value-added services and solutions based on customers’ desired outcomes and business requirements.

Five key enhancements to the APEX portfolio that will excite partners

1. Dell APEX Compute is a bare metal offering, delivering select PowerEdge servers through a fixed monthly subscription model . Partners can enable a bare metal as a subscription offering to their customers at their location of choice – the datacenter, edge, or colocation. The solution is owned by Dell and managed by the customer and is p aid as a predictable monthly subscription with 3–5-year terms. This way partners enjoy greater flexibility by allowing the customer to choose to self-deploy, or they can have Dell or a partner handle the deployment. Service Level Objectives (SLO) can be met in 28 days.

2. Dell APEX PC-as-a-Service (APCaaS) is an all-encompassing offer that includes lifecycle services, software, and hardware – all at a single, predictable monthly pricing structure. By leveraging Dell APCaaS with full lifecycle management, partners and their customers can utilize the time and budget savings to focus on truly transformative activities that drive business value.

3. Dell APEX Data Storage Services Backup Target provides the option to consume backup storage in a flexible and transparent manner, enabling peace of mind with an industry-leading defense against data integrity issues all while taking advantage of a pay per use storage model. Available contract terms have expanded to include 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5-year options. Additionally, a new file performance tier offers high performance and high density for medium to large-scale deployments.

4. Dell APEX Cloud Platforms is a portfolio of fully integrated, turnkey systems developed in collaboration with Microsoft, Red Hat and VMware that integrate Dell compute, software defined storage, and automation software with partner cloud operating stacks specifically to extend public cloud operating environments to on-premises IT deployments. This expands Dell’s multicloud ecosystem to extend and optimize the cloud experience of all major cloud stacks to on premises customer IT environments.

5. Dell APEX Storage for Public Cloud brings the advanced software capabilities of Dell’s industry-leading enterprise block and file data storage to public clouds, including AWS and Microsoft Azure.  Partners and their customers can continue to determine where workloads, applications, and data best fit based on their multicloud strategy. With these enhancements, partners and their customers can use their existing credits in public hyperscaler marketplaces.

A golden opportunity for partners

End user customer organizations are looking to streamline their IT environments in order that data and applications can live in the right place to deliver the most time to value for their businesses. As such, customers are more open to the thought of ITaaS than ever before. This is why Dell Technologies has delivered a significant expansion of its Dell APEX portfolio that creates commonality between public cloud and on-premises environments to simplify workload placement – and in doing so, creating enormous opportunity for partners.
