Research shows that partners can expand their opportunities by providing the expertise, guidance and solutions for right sizing customer environments and optimizing their applications wherever they live

As organizations continue to adopt multiple public cloud providers, maintain multiple data centers, and scale their edge and colocation environments, enterprises must consider an array of locations to deploy new workloads and migrate existing workloads. Where an application lives depends on numerous factors, including the type of application, the needs of the application, the needs of the organization, and the priorities of the enterprise.

To gain insight into the state of application deployment and migration decision making across distributed multicloud environments, TechTarget’s Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) surveyed 350 IT professionals at organizations in North America responsible for application deployment decisions.
The major takeaway from the research? Distributed application environments are strategic and increasingly common, yet complex. Some interesting findings:

·      Most organizations deploy applications in two or more on-premises data centers, two or more colocation provider locations, three or more infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) providers, and three or more platform-as-a-service (PaaS) providers

·      When asked to forecast how spending across locations was expected the change over the next two years, a majority of organizations expected to either increase or maintain spending levels across every location

·      As application environments have become more distributed, applications have also become more distributed with components and extensions residing across multiple cloud environments. Most organizations view these distributed applications as beneficial, despite the complexity they present. In fact, most environments support dozens of distributed application integrations.

·      Despite the widespread adoption of multiple public cloud providers, many organizations perceive their strategy as a centralized one to either prioritize one provider or to logically deploy workloads across providers based on the needs of the application.

So, what does this mean in terms of opportunity for partners? And where can partners turn to help their customers with app placement and workload optimization? The answer is simple.

Dell APEX delivers multicloud by design. Dell APEX is built to help organizations overcome the complexities of multicloud, where dispersed workloads and data make it difficult to mitigate risk, manage performance, modernize applications and optimize costs. No single environment or vendor can meet all the workload and business needs of an organization, which is why Dell Technologies collaborates with over 500 partners across the ecosystem to simplify multicloud operations. Dell APEX provides greater simplicity, agility, and control, which in turn drives innovation and consistency while empowering organizations to efficiently, yet securely manage workloads across on- premises data centers, colocation facilities, public clouds and the edge.

The breadth of the APEX portfolio and partnerships enables a versatile multicloud application and data fabric to support both cloud-native and traditional workloads. This approach ensures that customers can optimally place applications and move them if business priorities change. APEX also frees up customer IT staff so that they can focus on innovation that adds business value. And for those customers worried about CAPEX costs, they can leverage APEX’s flexible consumption models, including as-a-Service and pay-as-you-go subscription models.
